Easiest Way To Write An Article

Posted on December 16, 2007

Think you cant write articles?

Its actually easier than you think. Sure you may think its hard to come up with 400 - 800 words especially if you don’t know much about the subject.

This was my exact predicament when I was introduced to article marketing. I had to write a minimum of 300 words for article directories to accept my article. Of course they set the limit that high for obvious reasons:

So whats the easiest way to write an article.

You can use the point system.

You’ll find that some of the most popular articles on blogs and article directories go something like, “8 ways to….”,  ”7 Things You Should…”  or  ”Top 10 Most Useful…”.

If you can come up with 10 interesting points about your subject you have an article. All you have to do now is get some interesting content about those 10 points (or 7, or 8). When you can do this article writing even without the points system will become much more easier.

You can even start with this method of writing articles the easy way and then write it without the points. This will make your article look more like an article and this is especially useful if you can only come up with 2 - 3 points. You’ll have to do a lot of expanding though.

So if you have been wanting to start writing an article but put if off because you think its too hard try this method.

I have a friend who doesn’t like to write and when she used this method she did a really good article on losing weight.

Try it.

Listen To Your Subscribers.

Posted on November 20, 2007

So I’m building my list in a niche that is pretty hungry and today one of my subscribers get his second follow up.

Now the emails are personalized and although I don’t encourage them to contact me…at least not yet.. I check my email today and I get an email from a very distressed subscriber.

Luckily, I had bought the top performing product in this niche so I could understand better what it was all about. Want to be an expert in your niche? Write it off as an expense and buy the product. You’ll make it back.

So the subscriber tells me whats up and asks me what to do. I found myself talking to one person….and this taught me a lesson.

When you really want to get in touch and get personal with your audience write as if  you’re talking to one specific person.

This way your articles, followups, blogs, lenses, even your ads can appeal to one specific person and still appeal to your audience as a whole because they all want to know basically the same thing. Its like if you’re talking (in my case emailing) to a friend that is close to you and you telling them how you feel rather than “I hope my list (a whole bunch of people) really connect with this. I hope this converts with my list (whole bunch of people).

So anyways I email the guy who I think is probably so new to the internet and personalized emails that he thought I was speaking directly to him. Well that was the idea which is good. But I’m a little worried about when he gets followup #3, 4 etc.

I plan to use my reply as an additional follow up message thanks to my Subscriber.

Building A List With Aweber.

Posted on November 18, 2007

I recently started collecting names and emails - listbuilding - using the most respected and undeniably the best autoresponder available - AWeber. Since my start in internet marketing I’ve been told over and over again that you should always do this but I’ve never had the kind of success with anything until I joined Wealthy Affiliate so I never did.

Logically, as I made progress this was going to happen. First I stared off doing bum marketing and then I moved onto Google adwords once I made enough money for a budget and now email marketing.

I’ve always planned to do it this way with the next step being product development but thats a long way off I guess.

So I’ve just recently had some successes with list building and now I know the power.

I started building my list in a market that I found was very hungry. Very much it seems from all the research I did. Now its been two weeks and I’ve made over $250 in commissions from this one market even though I’ve just started and only use PPC. My list is only about 25 people at the moment and growing. What’s even more amazing is that I only spent $17 so far on PPC and profited over $230!

Glad I didn’t wait longer to start building a list and kinda kicking myself for not starting sooner.

Lessons I Learned From 12 Month Internet Millionaire

Posted on October 15, 2007

I didn’t really thing that I would have learned anything useful as it relates to my online business from an interview about offline direct marketing but turns out I was wrong. What I concluded after listening or rather reading the transcript of the interview is that online marketing works a lot like offline marketing simply because its pure marketing just in a different medium.

I didn’t get it at first but after taking a second and third look I realized that there were just too many lessons to be learned here.

One of the most important lessons was the 4 reasons people don’t buy. After reading this I visited a few of my landing pages and promotions and adjusted them accordingly.  After a few days on one particular promotion (a squidoo lens) I was getting an increase in sales and the lens didn’t even move in the search engines and the traffic remained the same which proves that the reason for the increase had to do with the changes that I made.

Another one was the 3s technique for writing landing pages and copy that really converts. Although I haven’t used it yet, it makes a lot of sense and I see it on a lot of high converting sales pages like the ones on Clickbank. You know the ones you have to close really quick if you want to save your money or risk getting pulled in.

Vince James’ business model that he started out with also changed the way I looked at earning money online. Although I’ve thought about it before I wasn’t using it except for one affiliate program I was promoting which paid me recurring income every month from just the initial sale. It also gave me other ideas as far as getting someone to subscribe to membership programs and I recently saw someone using one of the techniques to get signups to their membership site.

There are many more to be learned but just to give you another one that hit me was the fact that he said that the perfect business was one that was promoted offline but captured the sales online. In relation to this it was rather revealing that when people saw tv commercials and infomercials there would be an instant boost in traffic for some specific keywords. Nuff said.

I highly recommend 12 Month Internet Millionaire as it would change the way you look at online marketing. I, for one, can relate as I was introduced to internet marketing through magazine advertising.

Niche Research - Promote What People Want

Posted on September 8, 2007

So what do people actually want? If you can answer that then you can promote affiliate products to these people and make a lot of money.

I just found a site - its actually a very popular site that I come across ever so often - seems Google likes 43 Things a lot.

On 43 Things people actually tell you what they want to do. Thats the idea behind 43 things. So you can do research and find what people want and why they want it by reading their posts, then finding affiliate programs you can promote in these niches.

The best part about the 43 Things site is that they have a top 100 list of the most popular things people want to do. So you know that #1 is gonna be a very hot niche where there is money to be made. What do you know - over 25000 of the members want to “lose weight”. Not surprised at all… the weight loss industry is very hot as we all know. Its just a matter of digging down and targetting a more specific sub niche.

When people tell you what they want half of the work is done.

10 Ways to Find Article Writing Ideas

Posted on August 11, 2007

Are you having trouble finding ideas for your articles? I know I do sometimes. I think its common among writers to have a little writers block. Finding fresh ideas for your articles can sometimes get you frustrated that you just put it off until next time.

Here are some things you can do to get fresh ideas for article content:

  1. Visit Yahoo! Answers and browse the questions. There are literally hundreds of questions on a large variety of topics just waiting to be answered. Your answer could be the next idea for an article.
  2. Visit your favorite forum and browse the discussions. You might see a topic of interest that you could write an article on. If the forum is niche specific (and most forums are), then you can write with the intent of targeting that niche.
  3. If you are using Hubpages.com, they have a great section called Requests where users ask for specific topics. You can answer any of the questions available there.
  4. If you are using an internet cafe, you can go to Google and click in the search bar to see what people have been searching for. You will find all types of interesting topics to  write on. (Just don’t get sidetracked by the porn searches).
  5. Go to your bookmarks and do a website review or write about a website.
  6. Go to Yahoo’s homepage and write about the Top Searches (located in the bottom, right hand corner).
  7. Google Trends Hot Topics - if you use your blog to write about the topic, you could get a lot of visitors to your post.
  8. Google again… type in a random letter in the search box and Google will offer suggestions.
  9. Pick up a newpaper or a magazine and write about topics that are there. You may have a different perspective than one of the editors. For example, if you’ve heard an album that the editor reviewed, you can do a review on the same album. Hmmmm…. thats another one too - do reviews of cds, movies, dvds, etc
  10. Ask for suggestions - forums, a friend… just ask. Thats how I came up with the idea to post this topic. Someone asked for ”article writing ideas”.  I only gave them the first three..

There are many other ways to get ideas for writing articles. Use the ones above to find some topics to write about. You can come up with thousands of articles… yeah I know…who has time right? At least you won’t be needing ideas if you have that many.

By the way, check out How to Write Articles in 30 Minutes Flat. Excellent product, if you’re having trouble with article writing.

Google Adwords Account Cancelled.

Posted on July 29, 2007

Damn you, Google.

Guess I can’t really blame them but I really needed the account. Its my fault for not paying my bill on time. I owed them  some money and after I bought my laptop so I could work from home, my credit card got maxed out.

This was sometime last year long before I joined Wealthy Affiliate. Now that I am actually making money and I could afford to pay off my bill, I go into my account and its say’s that my account is cancelled and I cant activate it. Another hurdle. I emailed them so I’m going to see if they let me back in.

Luckily I just set up a Yahoo Search Marketing account with the free $50 voucher offered by Wealthy Affiliate, so I have $50 to play with over at Yahoo.

Hopefully, I’ll Google will give me another chance. I’m crossing my fingers. I’ve learned a lot at Wealthy Affiliate about Google Adwords so I wouldn’t make the same newbie mistakes again. Come on Google… do I have to beg you?
